nLive
nLive is the flagship product suite from Vigiliti that watches traffic in enterprise networks 24X7 and does the following:
- Traffic analytics and visualization so you get to know the 'who, what, where, when' of network traffic enterprise-wide and gain control over what is happening.
- Automatic problem detection in real time, so you can pinpoint trouble spots and root causes in your network very quickly
To find out how it can help you, click here and here.
nLive is available in different packaging to fit the needs of a variety of users:
| nLive Core: | Packet analysis based product for a single location |
| nLive Flow: | Netflow analysis based product for a single location |
| nLive Enterprise: | Netflow and/or packet analysis based product for a distributed Enterprise |
In addition, nLive Core and nLive Flow come in three editions : Free, Standard and Smart. Free edition has some limitations on the features, and is available for free use. Smart edition has problem detection and Standard edition does not. Please see the feature matrix to learn more about these flavors of nLive.

Deployment
nLive is available in software form. When the additional optional hardware appliance is purchased, nLive comes preinstalled in a 1U rack-mountable, whose specifications are given here. The hardware appliance is a turnkey solution. In software form, nLive can be installed on Windows or Redhat compatible Linux operating system. The system requirements are given here.
Each nLive installation has the following components:
- Sensor: This is a software component that processes packets from switches or netflow from routers, determines normal versus abnormal behavior (on some editions), detects problems (on some editions) and stores all of these into databases for reporting.
- Console: This is a software component that centrally manages all 'sensors', and creates reports, and analytics. Console has a secure web-server to which one connects a web browser to access the graphical user interface.

How problem detection works
nLive uses technology that often unearths previously known type of problems as-yet-unseen types of problems. nLive does not carry a database of standard problems that it can match your traffic to. It simply detects problems by observing the fact that traffic from or to a particular host or set of hosts is seen to be abnormal. This method ensures that peculiar problems that only occur in your specific network can be captured.
How analytics works
nLive stores databases of traffic, problems and host-scores in its sensors in a distributed fashion. When you like to analyze, search or report of any of these (traffic from a particular host or application for instance), you can use the rich and powerful graphical user interface to drill down and search the entire enterprise-wide database. Once can see top level views as well as details in the form of charts, tables and graphs. More details are available on these view in the screenshots.
What issues are addressed by nLive?
Since nLive uses machine intelligence to pinpoint problems in your network traffic by 'understanding' what normally goes on in your network, it makes it difficult to list out a set of problems and solutions that nLive applies to. There are an infinite number of them. In order to see specific examples to the kind of issues that it can address, please select one or more of the checkboxes on the the page Solutions.
