nLive System Requirements
System Configuration Requirements for nLive Software Installation
The system requirements for nLive depend heavily on the traffic that you have in your network. If you have very light traffic, low-end PC hardware is sufficient. At the bare minimum, the system should have 512MB RAM and a few GB free disk space, but that may only be suitable for low to medium loads. However, the performance might suffer if the traffic is higher.
If you are deploying packet analysis based monitor (nLive Core or nLive Enterprise with packet analysis enabled), faster CPU and more RAM are recommended in contrast with netflow based monitors (nLive Flow or Enterprise). This is because monitoring netflow is less demanding on the hardware than monitoring packets.
Recommended System
The recommended system for medium to high traffic is an Intel Xeon or equivalent quad core processor with 8MB L2 cache, 4GB RAM, 200 GB free disk space, Windows XP/Vista/2003/2008/7 or Red hat compatible Linux such as CentOS or Fedora. For packet analysis, two or more free Ethernet ports are recommended, but at the minimum, one is required. Equivalent virtual machines can be used so long as sufficient resources are allocated to the virtual machine.
